Purple Palace

Here are Miranda's new lavender digs. I love how the rounded shutters make it look like a castle. Great job big brother!

O Lord, you are my God; I will exault You and praise Your name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.
Isaiah 25:1

Miranda Ruth Is Finally Here!

Almost forgot- eight pounds, nine ounces, twenty inches!!

Pass Her!!

Bye Bye Belly

Nana started a paper chain for Ethan- each ring of paper signifying a day of pregnancy. Here is the last link ripped.

We ate at Buca di Beppo last night. I had never eaten at one before, so I had to fight to stay in the conversation and not study their operation. What would I have stolen if still in management? They had plexi glass mounted four or so inches under the air vents to avoid blasting the one patron underneath. Brilliant.

If we had been a larger party, we would have had a chance at the Pope Room.

Boom

Jim and Jen gave me their magical sensor microwave which I thought, until today, was infallible. Either there wasn't enough soup in there to use the "reheat single serving" button, or it didn't like the dumplings and made sure that they met their demise.

Sunday was another marathon day which left me socially exhausted. Camp breakfast, straight to church, camp lunch, nature trail- swings- and sliding down the bowl railing with mixture of camp staff and youth group, "cooking ministry" at my house for doughnut and rosemary pinwheel-making, then back to church for Common Ground until 9:15. The quote of the day came from Rebecca, a sophomore, after the kids had rifled through my photo albums, bookshelves and cd racks:

"Wow, Lisa, you have really interesting taste in music... for a Christian."

Bowse In The House

Ronnie Bowse, who is currently a long-haul trucker with a wicked Worcester accent and a big, gold watch, came for a visit. Sarah made a big dinner and the Beggs came over to reminisce with us. I've said it before, but I think these random staff reunions are the biggest perk of the job.

Within a week I have received fancy oil and vinegar from the Christiansens, Vermont maple syrup from Jamin, and Junior Caramels from Barry Joe Tate. AND Green Mountain coffee which I'm suckin' down like mad. Thanks, everyone, for thinking of me and keeping me round and jolly!!

Nature Trail

I have been neglecting the trail. It saw a lot of use over the summer months, but it's been so mucky over the winter that I hadn't been up there to see either of the streams flowing. The first bridge covers a very modest trickle, but the second was much more impressive.

Gaylin came with me, and I carried a whistle due to my brand new fear of being mauled. She kept watch as I ditched my socks, as I have a hard time staying out of the water.

It was COLD!!!!!!

We took the extended trail and stopped at Pinehenge and the swings, both of which were new stops for Gaylin. Other than the patch or two in the maintenance yard, I think this is the only snow left at camp.

Not-So-Big City

When in Oxnard I stay far away from Chili's unless I have enough time to visit with everyone. We went to Joe's Crab Shack on Monday, and saw Darcie and Patrick (from Chili's)! Darcie and I were servers at the same time, and I'd constantly have people from her station flagging me down for things since we both had long, blonde hair. After visiting for about half and hour, Ralph (also from Chili's) came out onto the patio when he recognized Darcie's son going outside. I totally matched the umbrella.
