my feet were crazy turned in, especially the left, and i used to trip over it when i ran (or toddled). when i was four, my doctor told my parents that i should take up either ballet, or ice skating to strengthen my ankles, and i chose ballerinadom.
the shoes were big, ugly and black, but the up side was that the kicking ability that came with them sort of leveled the playing field when it came to my big brothers wielding their power.
