Also known as the weirdest game ever. Well, perhaps weird isn't the right word so much as antiMiltonBradleyish; it was Germany's Game of the Year in 1995, after all. I was only a spectator during the game, but from what I saw, it's kind of across between Monopoly and Oregon Trail, with a little Risk thrown in.
Tricia's a total shark, but she couldn't quite pull it off in this round.
It was so great to have you here Oasis! Hope you had a good trip back.

That last sentence made me do a double-take, because there's a German board game from Uberplay called Oasis. I know this because it was shipped to my house a week ago and now sits in our overstuffed game closet, about two shelves away from Settlers. (And this is the entrancing commenting level one sinks to when one has a boardgamegeek husband...)
i'm a bit of a boardgame geek too, and was surprised to have never heard of this game, then more surprised that so many others had. i guess so cal isn't really known for being into resourcefulness or living off of the land.
just one sheep! someone trade me an ore for just one sheep!!!!!!!!
i LOVE this game and want so badly right now to play it...
What? That what is for Sarah, cause I love this game too, and played it like a fiend in the Sudan, but when mentioning it in blog form, your husband was asking about it as though he'd never heard of such a thing.
Another good one is Carcassan. Love it (or the Christian version, The Ark of the Covenant!) There's also a Christian form of Cataan called, Settlers of Canaan. :)
man, i'm totally undereducated!
no, juan was the victor. he said it was his first time, but he may have been doing some hustling : )
It is a great game. I had a similar experience to Laura, but now I'm the one talking people into it.
Lisa, I had never heard of it till I played it last year some time- It's huge in the east. Especially around Lancaster- it's like Uno is to our family. Crazy.
