These two methods are what helped me muddle through
Unlike your standard frisbee throwing method, this stance allows me to actually put the disc relatively close to where I am aiming. It feels a little like bowling, and is , as Josh so kindly pointed out, the "granny shot" of disc golf.
This second stance works well when you are standing in the middle of a large manzanita bush out of which the disc must be hurled, or when you have thrown the old shark directly into building five and are toes against cinder block. It was quickly deemed "the cavewoman".

Your methods are golden Lisa; while playing frisbie golf in Santa Barbara I learned that sometimes the granny moves are the only way.
seriously. it's the only way to get close to your goal if you, in fact, suck.
