The Least Interesting Blog Topic Ever...
...but on my mind nonetheless: I really need a haircut because my ends are turning green (pools and blondes don't mix), but I've been putting it off because my hair is currently the magical length at which it will stay up all day with just a pencil.
*Note:
This isn't as crazy as it may seem. I am constantly finding myself in the kitchen without a rubber band or clip- but the pencil cup runneth over.

Winding Down
I get really sad when the staff kids leave. The progressive dinner was on the ninth, before they started to escape back into their non-summer lives. We had appetizers at Bobbi's, salad at Gaylin's, dinner at the Hoetgers' and dessert at the Whites'.
We ended up on the Clarks' deck at the end of the evening to read our summer staff letters. What a gift community is! I love watching each year's group of strangers become family.

Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world."
One of our favorite groups, Kings Kamp, is here this week, and their theme is "Not Of This World". What does that mean for food service? Why cosmic, spacey food and a black-lit dining hall of course!
Because many celestial bodies are spherical, they requested that the food be...well...round. The menu was: Saturn's rings, asteroids, sun spots, solar rolls, space pebbles, Tang and sweet rockets (no Oxford comma here).
I feel the need to give Allrecipes.com a special shout-out tonight. I am constantly thrown into situations in which I need an immediate recipe- mostly due to my own crazy ideas/ poor planning, but we also get some pretty random requests. Allrecipes.com has bailed me out more times than I can count. It allows me to easily scale the recipe for two hundred servings, and none of them have turned out badly (my second and third batches of Turkish Delight for Teen Camp never set up, but the first batch was delicious). Holler!

This Is The Story Of The Girls' Sneak-Out
I won't divulge any details of the boys' post-ten-o'clock excursions, but they were the catalyst for ours. Since we are a few years behind, we had to make it a good one.
We sneakily crept down camp' s long, long driveway. We sprinted around corners, darted through shadows, then set up on the balcony of Far East Gifts. Starbucks in hand, we enjoyed our illegal freedom and took scores of post-midnight pictures.
The guzzling portraits:
I was not so good at this.
We mugged it up for a while,
then again hit the streets.
Success! The End.
