Just a bunch of Hodads

We went to San Diego on Sunday. Job's friend Steve was an awesome tourguide and host. I suppose that it's pretty strange to have someone from western NY show a couple of native Californians around so cal, but that's the way it worked out. Job treated us at Hodad's- a local burger joint where the walls are covered with license plates, and the smell of burgers is covered by the marijuana breeze. Ahh, beach towns. I didn't want to bother anyone with flashes, so the pictuers are as fuzzy as the table at which we sat. You like it; it's artsy.

Job's in town

It's been tumultuous (lots of heated board game playing), but great.

Peripheral vision is overrated.

Seinfeld Trivia

He is the original "mimbo". What is this Seinfeld character's name? Real name?

How was he injured?

What kind of sandwiches does he hate?

What two types of sandwiches does George make for their outing?

"Something like a phenomenon!"

I'm used to seeing firework stands on the roadside...

Hot Mama

Literally. This is my mom receiveing her pin as she was named Queen of her Sagatun Swedish Folk Dancing Club (no, she's not Swedish). I got some serious mileage out of that tiara when I was little.

On Saturday I found these two sassy little aprons among the masses, and asked (forced?) the boys to model them for me.

It was good of them to humor me.
As I was walking home from work for lunch, a car pulled over to ask for directions. The older lady in the backseat rolled down her window to ask:

Her- "Is there something like a supermarket in this town?"

Me- "Well there's Fairway, but there's nothing super about it. Follow this road down to the stop sign, make a left, make another left at the next stop sign (I still don't know the street names up here), then a right in by the Post Office."

Her- "Oh thank you. Is it going to snow?"

Me- "Um, it is snowing ma'am."

Her- "Oh wonderful!!"

Viva La Reunion!

Food Show

Yesterday we cook-type-people went to a food show in Del Mar. At a food show, one is solicited over and over as he or she gorges on samples. It's as exhausting as car shopping, but you get that added bonus bloat. Here are some shots of the free booty we collected.

You can also play with ginormous roaches at the EcoLab booth if you so desire.

From the Archives

These pictures were taken on my 23rd birthday at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. It was shortly before Sarah and Josh were married, and Sandy was in California for tons of planning and execution. I remember the huge Impressionism exhibit, I remember the gorgeous gardens...I just wish I could remember what had occured between the first and second camera flash!

Saturday

The five of us made another go of the Idyllwild course. Josh beat Paul by three, and we chickadees kept each other company at the bottom of the disc golf ladder of success. I, again, played incredibly poorly, but I did manage to shave six strokes off of my previous score.

Can't you just feel the Cali sun?

The last two days have been warm and gorgeous. Yesterday I did my menu planning and on-hand list in the ol' outdoor office. This is the view from "coyote rock", the highest point on the new trail.

'96 in the house

Sharon and Justin came up this weekend, and on Sunday we went down to Hemet to kidnap Cassie and Kylan. One of the best things about living so near camp (or so near Sarah?) is the random staff reunion day.

Super Freaky

Kids have the amazing ability of wriggling out of their clothing in unconventional ways. The results can sometimes be creepy.

Acts 2:42-47

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their posessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Grand Panda

We went out for Chinese for Jen's birthday last night at the Grand Panda. Erin (the non-Richard in red) gave us a gift certificate for Christmas. Everything was really delicious and I dug the wallpaper.

Our family, apparently, is really into making goofy faces.

well, it snowed...

again.

Mmmm

Sarah's stuffed shells. I could get used to this.

Okay thing that lives in my attic,

you can stay, you figured out how to get yourself out of the cold and all, but there are going to be some ground rules.

Number one: You will stay quiet when I am trying to sleep. There will be no loud scurrying or gnawing.

Number two: You will not eat or damage any wiring or insulation.

Number three: If you feel the need to die, wander off first to leave your stench in the forest. I want none of that.

Number four- this is of the utmost importance: You will remain CELIBATE. My apartment is single occupancy, as is its attic. If you want to get out there and swing, or raise a litter of other little mystery animals, you can find a seedier part of town in which to be a parasite.

If you agree to all of these rules, I will not kill or shoo you away. See you around the complex.
